Originally from America, they have been cultivated since ancient times: pots containing beans were found in Peru in the tombs of the pre-Inca period; they were also highly appreciated by the Romans (we find mention of them in the recipe book of Apicius "de re coquinaria"). Cannellini beans have a high potassium content that contributes to normal muscle function. They are also rich in fiber and protein.
