The castagnole or favette are a sweet carnival spread throughout Italy; it is part of the culinary tradition of Liguria, Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Lazio, Southern Umbria (with the variant called "strufoli di carnevale" in northern Umbria), Abruzzo, Veneto, Lombardy.
